The Fearless Vampire Killers ★★★ Pardon Me, Your Teeth Are in My Neck; Dance of the Vampires 1967

Underrated, off-off-beat, and deliberately campy spoof of vampire films in which Tate is kidnapped by some fangy villains. Vampire trackers MacGowran and Polanski pursue the villains to the haunted castle and attempt the rescue. Only vampire movie with a Jewish bloodsucker (“Boy, have you got the wrong vampire,” he proclaims to a maiden thrusting a crucifix at him). Inside the castle, Polanski is chased by the count's gay vampire son. Highlight is the vampire ball with a wonderful mirror scene. Many other amusing moments. 98m/C VHS, DVD . GB Jack MacGowran, Roman Polanski, Alfie Bass, Jessie Robins, Sharon Tate, Ferdinand “Ferdy” Mayne, Iain Quarrier, Terry Downes, Fiona Lewis, Ronald Lacey; D: Roman Polanski; W: Gerard Brach, Roman Polanski; C: Douglas Slocombe; M: Krzysztof Komeda.
