Def Jam's How to Be a Player ★ How to Be a Player 1997 (R)

Dray (Bellamy) thinks that monogamy is a wood used to build furniture. Although he has steady girlfriend Lisa (Voorhies), he also has several other ladies in waiting. He is, in fact, a player. He even teaches others to play. What he needs, however, is a screenplay. His sister Jenny (Desselle), who has been hurt in love, cracks the numerical code to his organizer, and invites all of Dray's harem to one party. The result of this booty intervention is Dray's abandonment of his promiscuous ways. The stand-up comedy roots of much of the cast translate into clunky performances, and the direction is pretty played out, too. 93m/C VHS, DVD . Bill Bellamy, Natalie Desselle, Mari Morrow, Jermaine “Huggy” Hopkins, A.J. (Anthony) Johnson, Max Julien, Beverly Johnson, Gilbert Gottfried, Bernie Mac, Elise Neal, Amber Smith, Lark Voorhies; D: Lionel C. Martin; W: Mark Brown, Demetria Johnson; M: Darren Floyd.
