The Butterfly Effect ★½ 2004 (R)

Kutcher takes time out from his usual dumb pretty-boy roles and tries his hand at a thriller. He plays Evan Treborn, a college psych major with a troubled past. He discovers that he can go back in time and change childhood events, which he does, to save himself and a group of friends from childhood traumas. Unfortunately, when he returns to the present, he finds his actions have changed everything that has happened since then, and not always for the better. There's a strong “ick” factor, touching on several rather disturbing top-Darics. Kutcher acquits himself admirably, but not enough to save this jumbled mess. 113m/C DVD, UMD .
