The Brown Bunny
The Brown Bunny ★★½ 2003
After his film's trashing as the worst movie in the history of the Cannes Film Festival, director/writer/star Gallo slashed nearly a half-hour from this story of a forlorn motorcycle racer's long, lonely coast-to-coast journey from a New Hampshire competition to his home in L.A., where he eventually meets up with true love Daisy (Sevigny). An infamously graphic oral sex scene ensues, which leads to a funky final plot twist. Curiosity, about the Cannes hubbub and the sex scene, will be rewarded by an interesting, sometimes poignant, homage to the maverick filmmaking of the 1970s. 93m/C DVD . Vincent Gallo, Chloe Sevigny, Cheryl Tiegs, Elizabeth Blake, Anna Vareschi, Mary Morasky; D: Vincent Gallo; W: Vincent Gallo; C: Vincent Gallo.
