Carly Marshall (Lange) is an irrepressible beau ty, long married to adoring but uptight mili tary scientist Hank (Jones). Things are barely in control when they're stationed in Hawaii but after Hank's transfer to a back water base in Alabama, Carly's emotional mood swings go wildly out of control. Hell truly breaks loose when Carly attracts the attention of the camp's commander (Boothe), who's only too willing to take ad vantage. Set in 1962, a nuclear radiation subplot (Hank's new project) proves a mi nor distraction. Exceptional performance by Lange with Jones providing a quiet counterpoint as a man still deeply in love with his disturbed wife. Director Richard son's final film.
