Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery ★★★ 1997 (PG-13)

Hilarious spoof of '60s spy and babe movies. Groovy '60s spy Austin Powers (Myers) discovers that his archenemy, Dr. Evil (Myers again) has frozen himself in order to elude capture, so the swingin' dentally challenged Brit decides to do the same. They awaken 30 years later in the same state: woefully out of touch. Dr. Evil is attempting to blackmail the British government and deal with his Gen-X son, Scott Evil (Green), who wants more quality time and less world conquest. Austin, on the other hand, is trying to “shag” every “groovy bird” he sees. He is teamed with Vanessa (Hurley), the daughter of his former partner, and they try to stop the evil machinations of…well..Evil. A festival of crushed velvet, political incorrectness, and female robots with lethal breasts. Myers revels in playing the fool, and he may step over the line every once in a while, but he gets plenty of mileage out of the one-joke premise. 88m/ C VHS, DVD, UMD . Mike Myers, Elizabeth Hurley, Michael York, Seth Green, Mimi Rogers, Robert Wagner, Fabiana Udenio, Paul Dillon, Charles Napier, Will Ferrell, Mindy Sterling; Cameos: Tom Arnold, Carrie Fisher; D: Jay Roach; W: Mike Myers; C: Peter Deming; M: George S. Clinton. MTV Movie Awards '98: Villain (Myers), Dance Seq. (Mike Myers/Londoners).
