After the Sunset
After the Sunset ★★ 2004 (PG-13)
Lightweight crime caper is as memorable as a soap bubble, although the scenery (Hayek in a variety of skimpy attire and the sun-drenched island setting) is appealing. Max (Brosnan) is a suave thief who, with partner Lola (Hayek), has pulled off a successful diamond heist that ruins the career of FBI agent Stan (Harrelson). The thieves then retire to the Bahamas where Max is soon bored, bored, bored, and ready for some action when an ocean liner docks in port with a priceless jewel exhibit onboard. Stan, of course, shows up, determined to finally outwit Max. Hayek plays another firecracker while Brosnan slums charmingly; Cheadle is wasted in a throwaway role as a gangster. 93m/C VHS, DVD .
