Crosby, John (O'Hea) (b NY, 1926; d NY, 2002). Amer. conductor and administrator. Played in army dance bands. Accompanist, coach, and cond., NY City Opera 1951–6. Built outdoor opera house at Santa Fe, New Mexico, 1956 (burned down and rebuilt 1967), and founded Santa Fe Fest. 1957. Specialized in Strauss. Pres., Opera America 1975–80; pres., Manhattan Sch. of Mus. 1976–86.
