Born on August 6, 1819; died on February 21, 1876; eldest daughter of Nicholas I (1796–1855), tsar of Russia (1825–1855), and Charlotte of Prussia (1798–1860); sister of Alexander II, tsar of Russia, Olga of Russia (1822–1892), and Alexandra Nikolaevna (1825–1844); married Maximilian de Beauharnais also known as Maximilian (1817–1852), duke of Leuchtenburg, on July 14, 1839; married Gregory Alexandrovna, count Stroganov, on November 16, 1856; children: (first marriage) George (b. 1852), count of Leuchtenburg.
