Gloeocapsa A genus of unicellular cyanobacteria (section I). The cells lie in small clusters embedded in mucilage. They are found in masses on wet rocks (e.g. on rocky coasts). (The genus includes organisms formerly comprising the phycological genus Chroococcus.)
