Yoga Sūtra
Yoga Sūtra. The text of classical yoga attributed to Patañjali and composed during the 2nd or 3rd cents. CE. The text comprises 195 aphorisms (sūtras) and is divided into four sections (pada) on (i) samādhi or concentration, (ii) sādhana or practice, (iii) vibhūti or magical powers, and (iv) kaivalya, the condition of isolation or freedom. The Sūtra is a systematic exposition of the theory and practice of eight-limbed (aṣṭāṅga) or rāja yoga.
