Srensen, Bent
Srensen, Bent, Danish composer; b. Borup, July 18, 1958. He studied with Nordholm in Copenhagen (1983–87), and also had lessons with Nrgârd. After composing in a tonal style, Srensen embraced a highly personal contemporary means of expression. His Violin Concerto, Sterbende Gärten (1992–94), won the Nordic Council Music Prize in 1996. Among his other works are Lacrimae for Orch. (1985), 3 string quartets (Alman, 1984; Adieu, 1986; Angel’s Music, 1988). piano pieces, and vocal music, including Cyprianus for 3 Women’s Voices, 2 Clarinets, and Percussion (1983) and Pop Sange for Tenor and Piano (1990).
