The Road to Guantanamo
The Road to Guantanamo ★★ 2006 (R)
Political docudrama from Winterbottom and Whitecross focuses on the misfortunes of the “Tipton Three.” These young British Muslims are in Pakistan for a wedding immediately after 9/11 and then travel to Afghanistan (apparently for humanitarian reasons). Big mistake—they get rounded up by Northern Alliance troops and are guilty until proven innocent, which takes years of military imprisonment and interrogation at Gitmo (film covers 2001-2004). 95m/C DVD . GB Rizwan Ahmed, Farhad Harun, Waqar Siddiqui, Afran Usman; D: Michael Winterbottom, Matt Whitecross; C: Marcel Zyskind; M: Molly Nyman, Harry Escott. Ind. Spirit '07: Feature Doc.
