table tennis
table tennis (Ping PongTM) Table sport played by two or four people, who use a rubber-covered, wooden bat to hit a small, celluloid ball back and forth across a net 15.2cm (6in) high. The table is 2.7m (9ft) long and 1.5m (5ft) wide. After the serve, the ball must bounce only on the far side of the net. If the ball misses the table or fails to clear the net, a point is scored by the opponent. The winner is the first player to score 21 points, while leading by at least two points.
