seraphim

seraphim

seraphim Angelic beings such as those seen in Isaiah's vision of the Lord of hosts (Isa. 6: 1–8). They touch the prophet's lips with a hot coal from the altar, thus cleansing him of sin. These fiery creatures are described as having six wings: two to cover their faces, two to cover their feet (i.e. genitals), and two for flying.
