ordination method

ordination method

ordination method A method for arranging individuals (or sometimes attributes) in order along one or more lines. The method is used, with many techniques, in the biological and earth sciences, and especially in biology. There is an extensive ecological literature that discusses ordination methods, their applicability to different situations, and the relative merits of ordination as opposed to classification schemes. See, for example, constellation diagram; gradient analysis; hypothesis-generating method; inverse analysis; and reciprocal averaging.
