OnLine ★★ 2001 (R)

Neurotic John Roth (Hamilton) and his partner Moe Curley (Perrineau) run an online sex site called InterconX. John is obsessive about documenting his life via a daily Webcam and becomes mesmerized by watching the beautiful Jordan (Ferlito), who does her own erotic fantasy thing on the web-site. He tries a real-live date with her but finds reality too much to handle. Other characters wander into the online world and Weintrob shows them (usually in split screen) interacting in various ways via computer and in person, but the characters aren't particularly appealing and it all seems dated. 87m/C VHS, DVD . Josh Hamilton, Harold Perrineau Jr., Isabel Gillies, Vanessa Ferlito, John Fleck, Eric Millegan, Liz Owens; D: Jed Weintrob; W: Andrew Osborne, Jed Weintrob; C: Toshiaki Ozawa; M: Roger Neill.

2. In automaton theory, describing an automaton that, having read the first k symbols of the input string, has already produced the first k symbols of the output string. The concept of being online is analogous to the initial subwords-preserving property of gsm mappings.
