biosphere reserve
biosphere reserve One of a series of conservation sites designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in an attempt to establish an international network of protected areas encompassing examples of all the Earth's major vegetation and physiographic types. Biosphere reserves contain virgin vegetation, plus various kinds of cultural landscape, in the whole of which conservation is practised.

biosphere reserve A type of conservation area designated by UNESCO in an attempt to establish an international network of protected areas encompassing examples of all the Earth's major vegetation and physiographic types. Biopsphere reserves contain virgin vegetation, plus various kinds of cultural landscape, in the whole of which conservation is practised.
