bald cypress (swamp cypress) Deciduous tree growing in shallow water in se USA. They have woody growth on the roots that grow above water and lose their feathery, light green needles in autumn. Height: to 15ft (4.6m). Family Taxodiaceae; species Taxodium distichum.
