Myers, Barton (1934– ). American architect, he settled in Canada in 1968 and established Barton Myers Associates. His own house at Yorkville, Toronto (1970), created an exemplar for the small family house sensitively placed within an established urban context. Well adapted to the Canadian climate, his work includes the University of Alberta Students' Union, Edmonton (1972–4), designed with the South-African-born Canadian Abel Joseph Diamond: it contains large interior circulation-spaces and sophisticated environmental controls. More recent work included the Concert Hall, Alberta (1991), and the School of Architecture, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (1991).
