springbok

springbok (springbuck) Small, horned antelope native to s Africa; the national emblem of South Africa. The reddish-brown colour on the back, shades into a dark horizontal band just above the white underside. Height: to 90cm (3ft) at the shoulder. Family Bovidae; species Antidorcas marsupialis.

Springbok, Northern Cape/South Africa Springbokfontein Founded in 1862 as ‘Springbok Spring’ and named after South Africa's national animal. The fontein was dropped in 1911.
