Sir Simon Rattle

Rattle, Sir Simon

Rattle, Sir Simon (1955– ) English conductor. Rattle made his repuitation as principal conductor (1980–98) and music director (1990–98) of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO). Known for his championing of new music and interpretations of Mahler, Rattle was chief conductor and artistic director of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (2002– ).
