Jeans, Sir James Hopwood
Jeans, Sir James Hopwood (1877–1946) English astrophysicist and writer who popularized astronomy. He investigated stellar dynamics and proposed the tidal theory of planetary origin, in which the matter of the planets was drawn out of the Sun by the attraction of a passing star.
