Simon of Cyrene

Simon of Cyrene

Simon of Cyrene. A passer-by who was compelled by the Roman soldiers to carry Christ's cross on the way to the crucifixion (Mt. 27: 32 etc.). In modern times he has been claimed as patron by groups of people working among outcasts.
