Runnymede

Runnymede, England/UK Ronimede A historic site where the Magna Carta ‘Great Charter’ was drafted and signed by John (1167–1216), King of England (1199–1216), in June 1215. The name means ‘Council Island Meadow’ from the Old English rūn ‘council’, ēg, and md ‘meadow’. The site, the island and the meadow, was clearly a place where important meetings took place.

Runnymede

Runnymede a meadow on the south bank of the Thames near Windsor. It is famous for its association with Magna Carta, which was signed by King John in 1215 there or nearby.
