Margrethe

Margrethe II

Margrethe II (1940– ) Queen of Denmark, daughter of Frederick IX. In 1972, she became the first queen regent since the Middle Ages and the first democratically appointed sovereign in Denmark's history. In 1967 she married the French Count Henri Laborde Monpezat, who became Prince Henrik of Denmark on their wedding day.
