Julius Wagner-Jauregg , 1857-1940, Austrian neurologist and pioneer in fever therapy. He was professor at the Univ. of Vienna from 1893 to 1928. He introduced the treatment of paresis by inoculation with the organisms causing malaria, attributing the success of the procedure to the induced malarial fever. For this work he received the 1927 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
