Hassan II
Hassan II (1929–99) King of Morocco (1961–99), son and successor of Muhammad V. He dissolved the National Assembly in 1965, and introduced a new constitution, approved by referendum (1971), which left his authority supreme. He eliminated foreign ownership of business in 1973, and in 1975 made claims to much of Western Sahara.
