Gujarati (Gujerati) Modern language of n India, the official language of Gujarat. Belonging to the Indic branch of Indo-European languages, it began to evolve in c.ad 1000. More than 30 million inhabitants of Gujarat and other Asian communities worldwide speak Gujarati.
