Guadalupe

Guadalupe

Guadalupe, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Spain, USA Spain (Extremadura): named after the Guadalupe mountains on whose south‐eastern slopes the town lies. They take their name from the Guadelupejo River from the Arabic wādī and the Latin lupus ‘wolf’, the original name of the river. The monastery here became one of the most important in Spain and as a result the name Guadalupe was adopted by a number of cities and towns in Central and South America.
