Fallopius

Fallopius , Ital. Gabriello or Gabriele Fallopio , 1523-62, Italian anatomist; pupil and successor of Andreas Vesalius and teacher of Hieronymous Fabricius at Padua. His important discoveries include the fallopian tubes, leading from uterus to ovaries. His collected works were published at Venice in 1584.

Fallopius, Gabriel

Fallopius, Gabriel (1523–62) Italian anatomist, who was professor of anatomy at Pisa (from 1548) and Padua (from 1551). Best known for his discoveries about the human skeletal and reproductive systems, he identified the tubes connecting the ovaries with the uterus, which are named after him (fallopian tubes).
