Emmy Destinn (Ema Kittl) , 1878-1930, Czechoslovakian soprano. She debuted in Berlin in 1898 before singing the title role in the London production of Madame Butterfly in 1905. She also sang the title role in the Berlin and Paris premieres of Richard Strauss's Salome in 1906. She debuted (1908) with the Metropolitan Opera in New York where she stayed until 1916.
