Dordogne

Dordogne river, c.305 mi (490 km) long, rising near the Puy de Sancy in the Auvergne Mts., S central France. It flows southwest to join the Garonne River N of Bordeaux and to form the Gironde. The upper and middle Dordogne valley has become a popular tourist attraction. There are famous vineyards along the river's lower course.

Dordogne River in sw France. Rising in the Auvergne hills, it is formed by the convergence of the Dor and Dogne rivers. It flows sw then w to meet the River Garonne, and forms the Gironde estuary. It has famous vineyards along its 471km (293mi) course, and is a vital source of hydroelectric power.
