Charles Pathé

Charles Pathé , 1873-1957, French photographer. He was the first to present (c.1909) the newsreel as a regular attraction at a theater in Paris. In 1910 he introduced the newsreel to the United States; thereafter the Pathé News Reel became an international product.

Pathé, Charles (1863–1957) Pioneer French film producer. He produced many short films and is credited with having made one of the first long films, Les Misérables (1909). Through the Pathé newsreels, he can be closely identified with the development of the film documentary.
