Big Dipper

Big Dipper Popular name for the asterism formed by the seven main stars of Ursa Major (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, and Eta Ursae Majoris), resembling a saucepan or ladle. An alternative name is the Plough.
