Berchtesgaden was Hitler's retreat in the Bavarian Alps. Apart from his house there, the Berghof, he had high up above it the ‘Eagle's Nest’, a small house amidst panoramic views. The Berghof and its surrounding buildings were razed to the ground after the war, but the ‘Eagle's Nest’ can still be visited.
