gasket

gas·ket / ˈgaskit/ • n. 1. a shaped piece or ring of rubber or other material sealing the junction between two surfaces in an engine or other device. 2. a cord securing a furled sail to the yard, boom, or gaff of a sailing vessel. PHRASES: blow a gasket 1. inf. lose one's temper. 2. suffer a leak in a gasket of an engine.
