scram / skram/ • v. (scrammed , scram·ming ) 1. [intr. , usu. in imper.] inf. go away from or get out of somewhere quickly: get out of here, you miserable wretches—scram! 2. [tr.] inf. shut down (a nuclear reactor) in an emergency. • n. inf. the emergency shutdown of a nuclear reactor: the power plant was cited for its high rate of scrams over the past year.
