tiling

til·ing / ˈtīling/ • n. the action of laying tiles. ∎  a surface covered by tiles: an area of plain tiling. ∎  tiles collectively, when used to cover a roof, floor, etc. ∎  a technique for displaying several nonoverlapping windows on a computer screen. ∎  Math. a way of arranging identical plane shapes so that they completely cover an area without overlapping.
