chunk1 / chəngk/ • n. a thick, solid piece of something: huge chunks of masonry littered the street. ∎  [in sing.] an amount or part of something: fuel takes a large chunk of their small income. • v. [tr.] divide (something) into chunks: chunk four pounds of pears. ∎  (in psychology or linguistic analysis) group together (connected items or words) so that they can be stored or processed as single concepts. chunk2 • v. [intr.] move with or make a muffled, metallic sound.
