re·tic·u·lum / riˈtikyələm/ • n. (pl. -la / -lə/ ) 1. a fine network or netlike structure. See also endoplasmic reticulum. 2. Zool. the second stomach of a ruminant, having a honeycomblike structure, receiving food from the rumen and passing it to the omasum. DERIVATIVES: re·tic·u·lar / -lər/ adj.

reticulum In Ruminantia, the second chamber of the stomach, having a honeycomb-like structure. This is sometimes linked with the rumen, so forming one large chamber.
