Norma

Norma. Opera in 2 acts by Bellini to lib. by Romani after play by Soumet. Comp. 1831. Prod. Milan 1831, London 1833, Paris 1835, New Orleans 1836, NY 1841 (in English). The heroine, Norma, is a Druid priestess. Wagner cond. Norma in Riga 1837 and when in Paris in 1839 wrote an aria, ‘Norma il predisse’, for Lablache to sing as Oroveso, but it was not performed.
