Andong (än´dŭng´), city (1995 pop. 188,452), North Gyeongsang (Kyongsang) prov., E South Korea. It is a railroad junction, terminus of the navigable portion of the Nakdong River, and a commercial center in an agricultural area where rice, hemp, silk, cotton, and tobacco are grown. Andong Lake, formed by the Andong dam, is to the east.
