[tr.] act as captain of. skip·per2 • n. 1. a person or thing that skips. ∎  used in names of small insects and crustaceans that skip or hop. 2. a small brownish mothlike butterfly (family Hesperiidae) with rapid darting flight. 3. the Atlantic saury (see saury).
