imago

i·ma·go / iˈmāgō; iˈmä-/ • n. (pl. i·ma·gos , i·ma·goes or i·ma·gi·nes / iˈmāgəˌnēz/ ) 1. Entomol. the final and fully developed adult stage of an insect, typically winged. 2. Psychoanalysis an unconscious, idealized mental image of someone, esp. a parent, that influences a person's behavior.

imago Adult, reproductive stage of an insect that has undergone full metamorphosis. Imagos are the winged insects, such as butterflies and dragonflies, that emerge from pupas or develop from nymphs.
