long·horn / ˈlôngˌhôrn; ˈläng-/ • n. 1. an animal of a breed of cattle with long horns. 2. (also longhorn beetle) an elongated beetle (family Cerambycidae) with long antennae, the larva of which typically bores in wood and can be a pest of timber.

longhorn

longhorn Almost extinct breed of beef cattle, originally from Mexico, descended from European cattle introduced by Spanish conquistadors. Once the mainstay of western US herds, they are now used only as rodeo and show animals.
