Dickinson, Meriel

Dickinson, Meriel, English mezzo-soprano, sister of Peter Dickinson; b. Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire, April 8, 1940. She studied piano and voice in England, and also attended the Vienna Academy of Music. After making her London debut in 1964, she devoted herself mainly to the performance of modern music; her brother toured with her as accompanist, and also composed a number of works for her. In 1986 she made her N.Y. debut in Berio’s Laborintus
