mer·cy kill·ing • n. the killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease, typically by the administration of large doses of painkilling drugs.See also euthanasia. ∎  the killing of an animal that is suffering from an incurable and painful disease or from extreme, life-threatening injuries.
