rheumatism

rheumatism (rōō´mətĬzəm), general term for a number of disorders that cause inflammation and pain in muscles, bones, joints, or nerves. In common usage arthritis, bursitis, neuritis, and gout are frequently designated by this term.

rheumatism General term for a group of disorders whose symptoms are pain, inflammation and stiffness in the bones, joints and surrounding tissues. Usually some form of arthritis is involved.

rheumatism (room-ă-tizm) n. any disorder in which aches and pains affect the muscles and joints. See rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic fever, osteoarthritis, gout.
