cor·re·spond / ˌkôrəˈspänd; ˌkär-/ • v. [intr.] 1. have a close similarity; match or agree almost exactly: the carved heads described in the poem correspond to those in the drawing. ∎  be analogous or equivalent in character, form, or function: the Inuit month corresponding to December was called Aagjulirvik. ∎  represent: digits that correspond to certain letters of the alphabet. 2. communicate by exchanging letters.
